1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of share.aw, a URL shortening service ("share.aw", the "Service", "we", "us", or "our"). The Service lets you create shortened links, generate QR codes, organize links with tags, apply redirect rules, and view visit analytics.
By accessing the Service, creating an account, or using the anonymous quick-shorten form, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to that organization.
2. Definitions
- Service: the share.aw website, user panel, redirect engine, and all related features.
- Account: a registered user profile that lets you manage links, tags, statistics, your profile, and billing.
- Short link: a shortened URL created through the Service that redirects visitors to a destination URL.
- Destination URL (or "long URL", "target URL"): the original URL that a short link points to.
- Anonymous use: using the public quick-shorten form to create links without registering an Account.
- Plan: a tier of service (for example Free, Pro, Titanium, or Diamond) that determines feature access and usage limits.
- Content: the destination URLs, custom slugs, tags, link metadata, and any other material you submit to the Service.
3. Eligibility and accounts
3.1. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. If you are below that age, you may not use the Service.
3.2. To access the user panel you must register an Account with a valid email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your Account.
3.3. You must provide accurate information and keep it current. We may require email verification before granting full access to the panel.
3.4. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Account. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
3.5. We may suspend or terminate Accounts that violate these Terms, as described in Sections 7 and 15.
4. The Service
4.1. share.aw provides URL shortening, redirect resolution, and visit tracking. Depending on your Plan, the Service may also provide custom slugs, link expiry and visit caps, conditional redirect rules, QR code generation, detailed analytics, and data export.
4.2. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of material changes that negatively affect paid features.
4.3. The Service is provided over the internet and depends on third-party infrastructure. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. See Section 11 (Service availability) and Section 12 (Disclaimers).
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to create, store, distribute, or redirect to any link or content that:
5.1. is illegal, or that promotes, facilitates, or instructs others in illegal activity;
5.2. contains or distributes malware, viruses, ransomware, spyware, or any malicious code;
5.3. is used for phishing, fraud, scams, deceptive practices, or impersonation;
5.4. infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party;
5.5. contains or links to child sexual abuse material, or any content that sexually exploits or endangers minors;
5.6. is defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, or that incites violence or discrimination;
5.7. distributes unsolicited bulk messages, spam, or links promoted through spam;
5.8. attempts to disguise the destination of a link to deceive visitors, or chains redirects in a misleading way;
5.9. interferes with, overloads, probes, or attempts to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its infrastructure, other accounts, or any connected systems;
5.10. circumvents, or attempts to circumvent, usage limits, rate limits, plan restrictions, or security measures;
5.11. resells, sublicenses, or commercially exploits the Service in a way not expressly permitted by your Plan; or
5.12. violates any applicable law or regulation, or the rights of others.
You are solely responsible for the Content you submit and for every destination a short link resolves to, including content that changes after the short link is created.
6. URL shortening rules
6.1. No self-shortening. You may not shorten a URL that points back to the Service or any of its domains or subdomains. Such links are rejected to prevent redirect loops and chains.
6.2. Custom slugs. Custom short codes are available on eligible Plans. Custom slugs must be unique, must not impersonate brands or mislead users, and must not be offensive. We may reclaim or remove custom slugs that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe infringe third-party rights.
6.3. Link availability. Short links may stop resolving if they expire, reach a configured visit cap, are deactivated, are removed for policy violations, or if the destination is found to be harmful.
6.4. No guarantee of permanence. We do not guarantee that any short link will remain active indefinitely. Do not rely on the Service as a permanent archive.
7. Anonymous use and rate limits
7.1. The public quick-shorten form lets you create short links without an Account. Anonymous use is subject to rate limits and daily per-source caps to prevent abuse. Exceeding these limits results in temporary throttling.
7.2. Anonymous links are still subject to the Acceptable Use rules in Section 5 and the shortening rules in Section 6.
7.3. Registering a free Account provides higher limits and the ability to manage your links. We may adjust anonymous limits at any time.
8. Plans, features, and usage limits
8.1. The Service offers multiple Plans with different feature sets and usage limits, including but not limited to the number of links you may create, the number of tags, custom slug availability, link expiry and visit caps, redirect rules, QR codes, detailed analytics, and data export.
8.2. Plan limits are enforced at all times. Reaching a limit may prevent you from creating additional resources until you remove existing ones or upgrade your Plan.
8.3. We may change the features, limits, and pricing of Plans. If a change reduces the features or limits of a paid Plan you are subscribed to, we will provide reasonable advance notice where practicable.
8.4. If your Plan is downgraded (for example after cancellation or non-payment), resources that exceed the limits of your new Plan may become inaccessible, hidden, or removed. Where the new Plan does not support a feature (such as redirect rules), data tied to that feature may be removed.
9. Payments and billing
9.1. Processor. Paid Plans are billed through Stripe. By subscribing to a paid Plan, you also agree to Stripe's terms. We do not store your full card details; payment information is handled by Stripe.
9.2. Subscriptions. Paid Plans are billed as recurring monthly subscriptions that renew automatically until cancelled. The applicable price is shown at checkout.
9.3. Upgrades. Upgrading to a higher-priced Plan takes effect immediately. You are charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the current billing period, and the full Plan price applies from the next billing cycle.
9.4. Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep access to your paid Plan until that period ends, after which your Account reverts to the Free Plan. You may resume a cancelled subscription before the period ends.
9.5. Refunds. Except where required by applicable law, payments are non-refundable. We do not provide prorated refunds for cancellations, partial billing periods, or unused features. Prorated credits apply only to upgrades as described in Section 9.3.
9.6. Taxes. Prices may exclude applicable taxes. You are responsible for any taxes associated with your purchase, except for taxes based on our net income.
9.7. Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry the charge, suspend access to paid features, or downgrade your Account to the Free Plan. You remain responsible for amounts properly due.
9.8. Price changes. We may change subscription prices. We will give reasonable advance notice, and changes apply from your next billing cycle after the notice period.
9.9. Billing records. Invoices and payment history are available through the billing area and through the payment processor's customer portal.
10. Privacy and data
10.1. Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect and how we use it. By using the Service, you acknowledge that Privacy Policy.
10.2. Visit tracking. When a short link is visited, we record analytics such as a privacy-preserving visitor identifier, approximate geographic location, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, and timestamp. We do not store raw visitor IP addresses; IP addresses are converted into daily-salted, non-reversible hashes used only for counting and abuse prevention.
10.3. Geolocation. Approximate location is derived on a best-effort basis from a local geolocation database and may be inaccurate or unavailable.
10.4. Account data. We store the information needed to operate your Account, such as your email address, display name, hashed password, Plan, and, for paid Plans, a payment-processor customer reference.
10.5. Your responsibilities. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service, including the links you create and any data you collect through analytics, complies with applicable data-protection and privacy laws.
11. Service availability
11.1. We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee any specific level of uptime, performance, or availability unless agreed separately in writing.
11.2. We may suspend the Service, in whole or in part, for maintenance, updates, security, or operational reasons, with or without notice.
11.3. We are not liable for any unavailability, delay, data loss, or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including network failures, third-party service outages, or force majeure.
12. Abuse reports and enforcement
12.1. Anyone may report a link or Account they believe violates these Terms through the abuse-reporting form on the Service.
12.2. We may review reported links and Accounts and, at our discretion and without prior notice, take actions including disabling or deleting short links, removing Content, deactivating Accounts, and withholding access to the Service.
12.3. We may also take any of these actions on our own initiative when we reasonably believe a link or Account violates these Terms, harms users, or exposes us to legal risk.
12.4. We may preserve and disclose information where required by law, to enforce these Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users and the public.
13. Intellectual property
13.1. The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and trademarks, is owned by share.aw or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the rights expressly granted in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.
13.2. You retain ownership of your Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, and display your Content solely as needed to operate and provide the Service.
13.3. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
14. Third-party services and destinations
14.1. The Service relies on third-party providers (for example the payment processor). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
14.2. Short links resolve to third-party websites and content that we neither control nor endorse. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, legality, or safety of any destination URL. Visiting destination URLs is at your own risk.
15. Suspension and termination
15.1. You may stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your Account by contacting [email protected].
15.2. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users.
15.3. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. We may delete your Account and associated Content, including short links and analytics. Short links associated with a terminated Account may stop resolving.
15.4. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 13, 16, 17, 18, and 20) will survive.
16. Disclaimers
16.1. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
16.2. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any short link, analytics data, or geolocation data will be accurate, complete, or available.
16.3. No advice or information obtained from us creates any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
17. Limitation of liability
17.1. To the maximum extent permitted by law, share.aw and its operators, officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
17.2. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service in any twelve-month period will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the Service during that period, or (b) USD 50.
17.3. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless share.aw and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your Content or the destinations your short links resolve to; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
19. Changes to these Terms
19.1. We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version.
19.2. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice, for example by posting a notice on the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
20. Governing law and disputes
20.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of Aruba, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
20.2. You agree that the courts of Aruba have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the law of your place of residence.
21. General
21.1. Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms presented at purchase, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
21.2. Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
21.3. No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
21.4. Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
21.5. Severance of relationship. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, agency, employment, or joint-venture relationship between you and us.
